</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Until last weekend, I spent a whole year "feeling blue." </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">No matter how hard I tried, against all my inner strength, direct focus, and self talk to be happy with what I had... my obsession only seemed to grow!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> I just could not get "feeling blue" out of my system. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I was convinced. The only way to solve my mental fixation is to turn my thoughts into reality....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><em>Navy</em> <em>Blue... Contrasting White.... Pops of Yellow and Bright Green.... Crisp... Fresh... Fun... </em></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I suppose it was the ocean air that got to me. Afterall, I was born in the fall and have always been drawn to warm colors. As a redhead, shades of brown and green have always been my go-to palette. But there I was feeling alien to my current surroundings in both my wardrobe and my home. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Two years of beach living and I am suddenly seeing the world through a whole new set of eyes! I feel best dressed in my navy and white stripes accessorized with a golden locket and brown boots. I am most at home walking through my favorite little shop, Bixby and Ball, a coastal living store in Solana Beach.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Last weekend I made the transistion from "feeling blue" to now "living blue." </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I fell captive to an incredible deal on a set of blue and white sofa pillows. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had my eyes on them for months and now I simply could not resist. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Oh I tried to say NO.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I was well aware if I came home with new pillows, which in my husbands words would be "pillows we do not need," I would be getting a mouthful in return. It wouldn't matter, nor would I be stupid enough to try to justify to him.... <em>but sweetheart these are the pillows I have always loved though could never have afforded.Seriously this is an amazing deal! For months I failed in my attempts to find something comparible in style in my price range. They are designed by John Robshaw. They will send our living room in a whole new direction, the blues... white... pops of yellow and green...a fresh, crisp, fun feeling. </em>None of it would matter, only one simple fact. We did not <em>need</em> them. And he was right. But <em>I</em> <em>needed</em> them. So I made a decision. {a decision I know many wives are all too familiar with}. I bought the pillows. I decided to take the heat from the hubby. His frustraion would last minutes, or maybe days. But I would have my pillows for years. :) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I am "living blue" and I love it! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">{ in a few months we will have pops of yellow and green. When the husband gives his blessing ofcourse.} </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For the record, I do not condone my behavior. Thanks Greg for your forgiveness. ;)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">This year we decided New Year's Eve would be best spent at home, as a party of 2. Greg and I did not commit to staying up late enough to see the ball drop in New York City {but we did make it to midnight and I was so proud of myslef!}, and instead of getting dressed to impress like originally planned, I enjoyed the evening in a pair of mismatched jammies. Our plan was to spend time recapping 2011 and forecasting 2012. But first, we brought out a bottle of red wine and endulged in the endless supply of chocolate boxes given to Greg for Christmas from his students. We turned on The New Years Rockin Eve Special in the background and then proceeded to bring out the laptop. In tears from laughing so hard at a series of videos on YouTube, we quickly gained our compusure when we heard the phone ring. Our dear friends {and by dear I mean always ready to party! You know who you are. We love you!} from our prior life in NorCal were on the line. Once we enjoyed some good quality speaker phone chat it was time to get to work. Recap and Forecasting time! <br />
<br />
I think the fact we opted for a mellow New Year's Eve is a solid indication that 2011 was a heck of a ride! We agreed 2011 was the "Roller Coaster" year. Not neccessarily because of it's up and downs {however, 2011 you did have your fair share!} but rather because of the sensation you get when on a roller coaster ride. You know the feeling when you are strapped in to your seat and just sitting still in anticipation to free fall 10 stories. Suddenly you drop at a rapid speed and the remainder of the ride is filled with a series of thrill and fear. When you finally make it to the end of the ride, you are not sure if you should laugh or cry, so you decide to just go sit on a bench for a moment. Yep, that was 2011. {My poor mother had a hard time keeping up with my phone calls. I was either in complete tears, or sharing the most amazing news! Thanks mom, you are the best!}<br />
<br />
Needless to say, our forecast for 2012 is to have a "steady" year. It is important to me to make decisions based on opportunities to grow and move forward, but if we can have a year with "no new news" I think that will be a step in the right direction for the Thornquest family. In an effort to maintain stability in 2012 Greg and I made a list of goals, areas of focus, truths to live by, and fun things to look forward to. Ofcourse I had to take it a step further and attempt to post inspiring quotes and bible verses all over the house. {Greg thinks this is so cliche.} <br />
<br />
Quote signs are all the rage in the world of decor, and I think every home, make that every room, should have at least one inspiring quote hung in a creative fashion. So pick your favorite quotes and display them in an unexpected way. I will be doing the same. {Even if Greg thinks I am silly}<br />
<br />
Cheers to a "keeping it simple" kind of year. Here are some quotes I resonate with,<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My long time client came to me 3 months ago to inform me that after 17 years of business they were closing their doors...... and planning on opening a brand new salon and spa on the Design District in Solana Beach! Per their request, I quickly came on board {humbled to have such an incredible opportunity} and for the past 10 weeks I have served the role of Creative Director. It has been an incredible process and with opening day just 3 weeks away, I can hardly contain my excitement {and my exhaustion!}. As I write, the floors are being installed, the business cards are being printed, the signage is being proofed, and one little girl tags along after school to watch her Mama live out her passions! {Thank you Skylar and baby Ariel for all your wall color reccomendations. I am sorry we were not able to paint a rainbow like you suggested.}</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

But sometimes you just know deep down inside that you are ready to try." -Emily Elizabeth, Clifford the Big Red Dog {I guess watching cartoons with my kids does pay off.}</div><div align="left"><br />
</div><div align="left">I continually find myself amazed and deeply moved by stories of people findng the ability to make big changes in their life. To try something new, take a risk and claim a new way of living. I am not talking about big changes in hobbies or hair color {yes, I did dye my hair BLACK once in my life. Thank you loved ones for pretending you liked it. Not to worry, it won't happen again}. I am talking about the moment when you find yourself at a crossroad. You are forced to rise above the commonplace and in doing so, discover a tremendous power within yourself. </div><div align="left"><br />
</div><div align="left">I will be the first to admit I find comfort in the commonplace. But when the commonplace is starring me straight in the face, I know in my heart it is time to take action. The before and after photos below are an example of this process of change, transformation, and action. {Though not all photos are shown, we did the entire living space and aside from some construction and a few decor elements, I simply gave new life to the furniture and pieces she already had.}</div><div align="left"><br />
</div><div align="left">A very dear friend of mine made the decision it was time for her family to eliminate a life of chaos brought on by living in an overly cluttered home. From that moment she took immediate action in making changes. She received my constructive critism with such grace and I admire her ability to open her heart and her home. I was so blessed by doing this project and I consider it a great priveledge to help turn a house into a home! { In this case, the home is a beautiful 3bdrm with ocean views. I want to move in!}<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Eighteen months ago Greg and I rallied the help of family and friends to assist in our move to a quaint beach town in San Diego. {and eighteen months later I still pinch myself, amazed at what an incredible place I have the privilege to call home.} One of our dear friends arrived for duty with a map in hand. He grew up in Encinitas and decided to equip us with a map of local hot spots . What to eat, where to shop, etc. First on his list, Pannikan. An old train station turned coffee shop. A place to lounge, people watch, get inspired, and most importantly have a good cup of coffee. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once we made our first visit I was pleasantly surprised to learn just $1 could buy you a coffee bean sack. I immediately knew a fun craft was in my future! I went to the Pannikan for a cup of coffee. I left with my future artwork for above our fireplace. Gotta love life's little surprises. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I cut, I painted, I glued, I nailed. One coffee bean sack, 6 seagrass placemats, a few hours and $15 later, the Thornquest's have wall art.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We have never done wish lists in my family. No one will ask you what you want for your birthday or Christmas. The job of the gift giver is to be creative and extend something to the recipient <i>they never knew they always wanted</i>. Looking back on the last year of my life, I believe I was the recipient of such a gift. I came to this conclusion a few weeks ago when I realized I feel happier and stronger than I ever have. Last year I was experiencing a season of life where I felt so defeated and I lost the ability to step outside of my circumstances and see the bigger picture. Now I have a whole new perspective. Glancing back, at the time what seemed to be a series of unforeseen {and even unfair} bumps in the road, now appears to be more like a sequence of small miracles. Because of this experience, I wake up daily energized by the thrill of "possibility." Relishing in what could be, the element of surprise, the unexpected. { I wish I could bottle this feeling because I know it won't last forever. Wouldn't it be great to throw back a few on those days you just can't muster the strength to stay positive.} I feel as if my future is a beautifully wrapped present. I no longer have the need to sneak a peak and know what is inside. Because I already know I am going to love it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Last summer I recall sitting in my car in the Smart and Final parking lot. I had just loaded all the groceries. As I put the keys into the ignition, a popular song came on the radio and I heard the lyrics for the first time. I was overcome with emotion. Partially because I felt so defeated, and partially because I suddenly felt so strong. I am happy to say I no longer feel paper thin. Yes, its true, according to Katy Perry,{embarrassed to quote a pop star}, baby I am a firework! So many incredible changes {outward and more importantly inward} have happened since that day. What a difference a year makes. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">like a house of cards,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">one blow from caving in?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you ever feel already buried deep?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">6 feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you know that there's still a chance for you</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">"Cause there's a spark in you</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You don't have to feel like a waste of space</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You're original, cannot be replaced</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you only knew what the future holds</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">After a hurricane comes a rainbow</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Just own the night like the 4th of July</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">"Cause baby you're a firework</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

So where have I been the last 5 weeks you ask? .<br />
<br />
Picture me in the center ring. I am dressed in a silly clown costume, wearing a smiley face painted from ear to ear. The crowd goes wild and I begin my performance. I start juggling 20 balls at once and then proceed to wear 10 different hats. I take each hat on and off all awhile continuing to keep the juggling balls in the air. I think to myself how grateful I am to have had prior training, but honestly nothing could have prepared me for this! People told me how hard it was going to be, but there was no way to experience it until my time came. Now is my time. I start strong and begin my crowd pleasing performance. Focus... deep breath... excitement.... dropped a ball... re-focus...... determined.... doing great.... lost a hat.... re- focus..... confidence..... done...... Whew! I finished my act. My eyes gaze into the audience and I see the majority of the crowd in applause. I am feeling great. I exit the stage, take a deep breath, grab a snack, get a makeup touch-up, and prepare to get right back on stage for Act 2.<br />
<br />
I know many of you can relate with this feeling. Maybe it happens slowly over time, this feeling of life being such a juggling act. For some reason I feel as if it happened to me overnight. All of the sudden I woke up one morning and felt the challenge of raising 2 young children, working, staying healthy, having time with God, making time for my husband, finding rest, growing in mind and spirit, keeping up with our social schedule.... the list goes on. Even when I try my very best I certainly don't keep all the juggling balls in the air at once, or have the right hat on at the right time. But I will tell you what. It feels so good to work so hard, and I am excited to see the fruits of my labor {which very well may be years down the road, I like to believe it is worth waiting for}.<br />
<br />
In an attempt to take my kids on a fun field trip, and do something for myself to foster positive energy, I decided to take the kids on a trip to the local flower grower. {I admit, I was first inspired by my need to do something for myself and the fact that I could also turn it into a field trip was a bonus.} I have a few exciting projects in the works and one of them required me to spend time researching a book called "Summers in France." It inspired me to take a walk, purchase fresh flowers from a local, and come home to make an arrangement. The great thing is along the way I noticed a selection of plants on the side of the road to add to the stems we were about to purchase. The entire walk home we stopped and picked and pulled to add to our arrangements. I had fun, the kids had fun, and life is feeling good. :)<br />
<br />
Here is a little quote I was inspired by last week.......<br />
"We don't sing because we are happy. We are happy because we sing."<br />

I am blogging this evening not because I have deep thoughts to digest or insight to share but rather because I am trying to avoid my desire to lay on the sofa all night watching shows I have no interest in. So here I am, having convinced myself that hours on the computer, consumming meaningless calories, {I am eating red vines while typing.} was a superior option to the first. Hmmmm..... Nonetheless, I thought I'd take this opportunity to share Skylar's recent Birthday Party with you. I had a great time designing it and I discovered three great sources along the way that everyone should know about!<br />
<br />
Love to all,<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">We hosted Skylar's party at Casa Blanca Salon & Spa {a client, turned friend.} The girls were requested to come dressed in white or yellow and we had them transformed into lovely Garden Fairies. Below is a picture of the "Fairy Checklist" each girl received upon arrival.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMxNxGDAfQa0GLRW-KYvCpPkVxVWD3S8Zjrhoe3yDu1sbL1tMycHLgupeGcQVYtfXtNV-mk-M7Swqv26EqmYEoY1ySVXGXp56tdVJBO8wmrvHMl37qN6Rhc8flavLemT4GttfVdNmRwJY/s1600/blog+may+2011+055.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMxNxGDAfQa0GLRW-KYvCpPkVxVWD3S8Zjrhoe3yDu1sbL1tMycHLgupeGcQVYtfXtNV-mk-M7Swqv26EqmYEoY1ySVXGXp56tdVJBO8wmrvHMl37qN6Rhc8flavLemT4GttfVdNmRwJY/s640/blog+may+2011+055.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Ofcourse we had a food table for Fairies and Parents with the munchies. I used burlap for a tablecloth, layered with fabric, and my plants from home. </div><div style="text-align: left;">Having been parents now for 4 years, Greg and I have had many conversations regarding the values we want to teach our children. One of the top 5 values on our list is Money. We decided we need to be extremely intentional in teaching our kids how to positively handle money. We thought if we ingrain positive money management at a very early age, when they are grown, they will instinctively have the habit. In doing so, I decided a piggy bank wasn't enough to teach Skylar and Luke money management. We need to take it a step further and teach them the proper order and percentages of money. </div><div style="text-align: left;">We said goodbye to the piggy bank and came up with SHARE. SAVE. SPEND. And so we have began the 18 year process of brainwashing our children to 1) first share our money 2) always save our money 3) spend a small portion of our money {a small portion, that is of course until they have bills, mortgages, children, cars, etc. ughhhh...} :)</div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;">Love to all,</div><div style="text-align: left;">Netti T</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I feel as if I am right in the middle of the process of "blooming." {blooming as a wife, a mother, in my career path, and most importantly, as a child of God.} I am on a journey of discovering and <i>slowly</i> becoming {good things take time, right.} the person I believe I was created to be. Along my journey I experience the usual ups and downs. Some days I believe I can achieve anything I set my mind to. And other days I feel as if I am a caterpillar who is convinced it will never muster the strength to become the beautiful butterfly it was meant to be. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Last week I had what you could call, "a light bulb moment." I was running on the treadmill at the gym, and suddenly discovered inspiration all around me! Below me was a grey haired granny working with a trainer for the first time, {you go girl! you can do it!} In front of me was a television screen with Obama handing out awards to our brave soldiers for their victory last Sunday. All around me were posters, each with an inspirational quote like "Change your life" or "Eye of the Tiger." Inside of me was the sound of my mothers voice gently saying "Netti, you can. You just need to change your recording." My mother spent years trying to teach me to have positive self talk. Finally at age 30, I think I <i>heard</i> her for the first time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Tears dripped down my face, {at least the people around me didn't know I was an emotional mess. They just thought I was sweaty from kicking a@# in my workout.} At that moment I felt in my heart what I had only heard with my ears for so long. And in doing so, I discovered a new personal truth. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I do not need to change what I am doing. I need to change how I am thinking. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I so often set a goal, start strong, and then slowly my negative self talk gets the best of me until I believe I am incapable. This will be no longer! I am going to push out thoughts of negativity towards self. I will claim and hold tight to what I feel are God's promises for my life. Perserverence, Endurance, Focus.........</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Take what seems to be a small insignificant orchid branch {photo above}. I did not make this but I think I may!!! Grey, white, brown, and mustard yellow. I love! So perfect!<br />
<br />
Blogging is intimidating. It is like spending weeks planning your amazing sweet sixteen party and then praying people will show up. Well I am excited to tell you that I have at least one person coming to my party! My dear friend informed me she was disappointed last week when she checked my blog and found no new posting. I responded with "Hoorah! Someone is actually looking forward to reading my blog!" So Karen, this one is for you.......But first let me tell everyone what I was busy doing last week.<br />
<br />
I have a most amazing client {amazing is an understatement} who unfortunately had to clear out their entire business due to a fire. The good news is.... They had to purchase all new merchandise and redesign the enitre boutique! {To some this may be overwhelming, but to the owner and myself, this was the excitement of the year!} Off we went to Los Angeles. She brought me as her buying consultant. {okay, let's just stop right there. This is incredible. I spent days scouring the streets of LA, shopping for fabulous finds, and then swiped someone else's credit card! Her husband was our driver, we stayed the night at the "W", and had all meals covered. This is the stuff dreams are made of. Could it get any better!?} We had a very successful trip, discovered great new vendors, and then headed back to San Diego to get to work. By the end of the week we have a whole new shop! I will post pictures next week.<br />
<br />
Love to all,<br />

Without further ado, Karen, this one is for you. {Not my work, but I think it may inspire you}<br />

When doing your new Master bedroom, play with multiple textures and furniture styles. Stay away from walking into a furniture store and buying the 6 piece matching set. Make it interesting and thought provoking.<br />
I cannot get enough of a Grey wall color. It is such a perfect neutral and not the same old beige. Goes great with brown, black, white, or a mixture of all three aside a pop of color. <br />
<br />

<br />
Whenever I pick up a magazine or a coffee table book I always start by reading it backwards. {I know, it's weird right.} I usually open in the middle, flip pages until I get to the beginning, go back to the middle, and then work my way slowly to the end. I am often the same in life. I just get so excited, plunge right in, and then slowly gain my composure and begin to execute a sensible and practical plan. I am the first to admit, I can sometimes get ahead of myself. It's a good thing that my big picture, creatively energized self, has the balance<br />
{and lets be honest, also conflict}of my good intended "logical" husband. {Yes, darling I did use the words sensible, practical, and plan all in the same sentence. Aren't you proud?} :) <br />
<br />
The thing about me is once I slow down and really focus on being intentional, I start to worry. I wonder if everything will turn out the way I'd hoped. I second guess my decisions, torture myself with uncertainty and so on. {I am in process of overcoming this weakness!! Yeah for me, I can do it!} But what I have learned is this: As in merchandising, also is in life. There is no sense in worrying. You can only plan so much, and then you just have to show up and work with what you have right in front of you! I love when a creative project takes me in a surprising direction and turns out so much greater than my original design. And now I can look back and realize this trend taking place in my life as well. It is a wonderful feeling!<br />
<br />
I love getting the phone call from my client that there are boxes of new merchandise waiting at her shop and it is time for me to come in and display them beautifully! I run through some plans in my head and then I just show up, and work with what is right in front of me! Here are a few pictures of my merchandising. {How can you not love the picture above with the French cookbooks in a wire basket?! You can imagine these sold fast!}<br />
Love to all,<br />

I am blessed to have a few of what I like to call, "soul sisters." You know, the friends who, when you get together you skip all the small talk and get right down to the good stuff. An instant exchange of struggles, celebrations, shared support, and encouragement. I am truly in my happy place when I am in the company of one of these friends. Clearly, my other happy place is working on a design project. So.... You can imagine my overflow of happiness when I had the privilege of doing both of these things at the same time!<br />
<br />
One of my most dear friends, {You know who you are! I always LOVE our time together!} asked if I would come over to her house and turn it in to a home. Ofcourse, we first sat around chatting with coffee in hand, oblivious to our little boys in the back yard creating a mud mountain out of potting soil. {the uninterupted talking time was well worth the cleanup.} Once we got the boys to off to a nap it was DECORATING TIME!!!! The countdown begins. We had just 2.5 hours. I instantly roamed the house searching for dispersed treasures to put on display. <br />
<br />
I used only what she had around the house. We pulled jars from the garage, dishes out of the kitchen cabinets, mirrors off the walls, furniture from other rooms, etc. She has an eye for amazing pieces! We just had to pull them together in the right way. <br />

My plan was to combine a variety of textures and have the viewer feeling organic fresh. I love the combination of the rustic crates, vintage metal, and textured red bricks. Throw in some moss, succulents, lush white towels, transparent green glass, and my love of burlap {our love affair began almost a year ago and I still find myself attempting to include you in any project. You are amazing.} and I am thinking I would like to enjoy a day in that Spa!<br />
<br />
I had the best time shopping for these windows. Skylar was my co-pilot for the day. She insisted on doing work with Mommy so off we went hunting for treasures at the Design District on Cedros Ave. It was a day well spent. <br />

Hello!Hello. My name is Annette. You can call me Netti. Welcome to my Blog. So here's the deal........<br />
<br />
I invite you to share in my journey as I attempt to make a career doing what I LOVE {not just like, or often enjoy. I mean love. The thing I am most excited to wake up and spend a day doing}. My journey comes at a cost, a huge cost, but life threw some curve balls and I figure since we are making changes, we might as well make BIG changes. Options were considered, pro's-and-con's charts were written up, and decisions were made.<br />
<br />
Goodbye, So Long, Farewell:<br />
1) Great salary, monthly bonus, company car, & benefits. {Oh how I miss you! Penny pinching.... how do I say it?.... Just sucks! Sometimes I find myself excited about the innovative way I managed to stretch a dollar, but most days I have to continually remind myself of all the reason's we chose this path. Gone are the days of Costco impulse buys. It sure was fun while it lasted and I like to believe we will see each other again someday.}<br />
2.) House that I loved. {We put so much time and $ into you. And you were so full of love and wonderful memories. However, I admit I do love you more now than I did when I owned you. One of those, "you don't know what you've got till it's gone scenarios. Considering we just relocated to one of the most expensive areas, I can now only dream of buying a new house as wonderful as you were.}<br />
3.) A most amazing community filled with meaningful relationships. {Folsom, CA. I thought I was one of your lifelong residents and when I left, I was convinced I would never reside in a more charming city. Lucky for me, I have been so pleasantly surprised. But not to worry, you were my first love and I will always hold you close to my heart.}<br />
<br />
And now the fun part.... drum roll please....<br />
<br />
Hello, Welcome, Come in:<br />
1.) Freedom to pursue my passions! Instead of counting the minutes in the work day, I countdown the minutes until I get to start my next big job! It is an amazing feeling. I have lifted my Visual Design career off the ground and so far it has been incredible.{I am cool with a slow take-off, but please, please, please in another year, when both kids are in school, let's soar huge heights together!!} <br />
2.) A little condo by the beach. And I do mean little! {I curse you daily. I swear your walls are caving in on me. But the truth is that I have never been more hopeful, driven, grateful, and inspired. Somehow you have given me such personal growth and I am really starting to like the new version of me}<br />
3.) San Diego!!! Wow! { Encinitas, CA. You win the prize for being what I never knew I always wanted. What else can I say other than,You rock!}<br />
4.) Happy husband, happy kids! {Greg, you are right, God made you to be a teacher and I am so proud of who you are. We did make the right decision relocating for your job.} I am so incredibly blessed to now have the opportunity to spend more time home with the kids. {Skylar and Luke, you can get excited because yes, tomorrow is a "stay at home with mommy day." Let's make pancakes, break out the dress up clothes, talk about princesses while watching the movie Cars, and then head to the park.} <br />
<br />
So.... with all that being said.... I encourage you to share in my journey. I will keep you updated on my completed projects, share design tips and knowledge gained, and most important, aim to inspire anyone who like me, sat on a dream for a really long time, and is searching daily for the strength and courage to try to make it happen. <br />
<br />
Love to all,<br />
